Keep it like a secret?

The art of telling secrets.

Have something to get off your chest? Want to tantalize someone with an anonymous declaration of love? Discovered the meaning of life but know no one will believe you? PostSecret, the confessional community art project, has hit UChicago.

ArtShould, a student group that promotes art in and around Hyde Park, has set up postcards and orange mailboxes at Cobb Cafe, Harper Cafe, Hallowed Grounds, and Ex Libris. The directions are simple: “Take a postcard, confess a secret on the blank side, and return it to a mailbox.”

Guts will be spilled collectively at the end of the quarter, when the postcards will be displayed in the Reynolds Club’s McCormick Tribune Lounge on Wednesday, March 13, from 7 to 10 p.m. For inspiration, ArtShould displays the fruits of 2011’s UChicago Post Secret project on Tumblr.
