Rina Foygel Barber, SM’09, PhD’12, (Statistics) received a 2016 Alfred P Sloan Research Fellowship.

Andrew Campbell, PhD’93, (Geophysical Sciences)received a 2015 Faculty Award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching and Mentoring.

Nicolas Dauphas (Geophysical Sciences) received the Prix SFIS (Société Française des IsotopeS) du meilleur article 2014; received the Louis Block Professorship; and was elected a fellow of the Meteoritical Society.

Guangbin Dong (Chemistry) received the 2017 Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award from the American Chemical Society.

Vladimir Drinfeld (Math) was elected to the National Academy of Sciences.

Ariel Feldman (Computer Science) received a 2015 Google Faculty Research Award.

Michael Foote, SM’88, PhD’89, (Geophysical Sciences) was awarded a 2016 Arthur L. Kelly Prize for Exceptional Faculty Service in the Physical Sciences Division.

Michael Franklin (Computer Science) was named the first Liew Family Chair of Computer Science.

Wendy Freedman (Astronomy and Astrophysics) was awarded the 2016 Dannie Heineman Prize for Astrophysics by the American Astronomical Society and the American Institute of Physics.

Joshua Frieman, PhD’89, (Astronomy and Astrophysics) was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Margaret Gardel (Physics) was named director of the Materials Research Science and Engineering Center.

Haryadi Gunawi (Computer Science) received a 2015 Google Faculty Research Award.

Jeffrey Harvey (Physics) was awarded a Simons Fellowship.

Wayne Hu (Astronomy and Astrophysics) was elected to the National Academy of Sciences.

Heinrich Jaeger (Physics) was awarded a 2016 Faculty Award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching and Mentoring.

Edwin Kite (Geophysical Sciences) received the 2016 Ronald Greeley Early Career Award in Planetary Science by the American Geophysical Union.

Yamuna Krishnan (Chemistry) was selected as the 2016 Innovator Award winner by the Association for Women in Science Chicago.

Jared Lewis (Chemistry) was awarded a 2016 Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award for a project titled Engineering Proteins for Selective Catalysis.

Lek–Heng Lim (Statistics) was awarded a DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) Young Faculty Award for 2015–17.

Maryanthe Malliaris (Mathematics) received a 2015 National Science Foundation Career Award.

Raymond Moellering (Chemistry) won the 2015 Cancer Research Foundation Young Investigator Award.

Angela Olinto (Astronomy and Astrophysics) was named the Homer J. Livingston Distinguished Service Professor.

David Schmitz (Physics) received a 2015 National Science Foundation Career Award.

Erik Shirokoff (Astronomy and Astrophysics) received a 2015 National Science Foundation Career Award.

Steven J. Sibener (Chemistry) was honored with a Festschrift issue of the Journal of Physical Chemistry and was named a fellow of the American Chemical Society.

Jonathan Simon (Physics) was awarded a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers.

Bozhi Tian (Chemistry) was awarded a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, a Sloan Research Fellowship, and an ONR Young Investigator Award from the Office of Naval Research.

Robert Wald (Physics) was awarded a 2015 Arthur L. Kelly Prize for Exceptional Faculty Service in the Physical Sciences Division and received the 2017 Einstein Prize from the American Physical Society Division of Gravitational Physics.

Jake Waldbauer (Geophysical Sciences) was selected as an Early Career Investigator in Marine Microbial Ecology and Evolution by the Simons Foundation.

Jonathan Weare (Statistics) was awarded the 2015 IMA Prize in Mathematics and its Applications.

Yossi Weizmann (Chemistry) was awarded an Innovation Fund Award by the Chicago Innovation Exchange in partnership with UChicagoTech and the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and he received a 2015 National Science Foundation Career Award.
